Ten Mahavidyas have been mentioned in our scriptures. These 10 Mahavidyas have special importance in Tantra Kriya, Vidya. Special fruits are obtained by the practice and worship of these 10 Vidyas. These Mahavidyas are considered to be Dashavatara. The 10 Mahavidyas are the forms of Maa Durga, which are considered to give Siddhi. A person who worships these ten Mahavidyas of Maa Durga gets all the material pleasures and also gets free from bondage. This worship is done by Tantric practitioners to please the mother.

In Shakta philosophy, the ten Mahavidyas are also related to the ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu. And it tells that Mahavidyas are the source from which the ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu were born. These ten forms of Mahavidyas, whether they are terrible or gentle, are worshipped as the mother of the world.

The ten Mahavidyas are mostly worshipped by worshippers of Tantra. Special fruits are obtained by the practice and worship of these 10 Vidyas. These Mahavidyas are worshipped to awaken one's inner powers.

हमारे शास्त्रों में दस महाविद्याओं के बारे में बताया गया है। तंत्र क्रिया में, विद्या में इन 10 महाविद्याओं का विशेष महत्व होता है। इन 10 विद्याओं की साधना और उपासना से विशेष फल की प्राप्ति होती है। ये महाविद्याओं को दशावतार माना गया है। 10 महाविद्याएं मां दुर्गा के ही रूप है, जिसे सिद्धि देने वाली मानी जाती है। मां दुर्गा के इन दस महाविद्याओं की साधना करने वाला व्यक्ति सभी भौतिक सुखों को प्राप्त कर बंधन से भी मुक्त हो जाता है। मां को प्रसन्न करने के लिए तांत्रिक साधकों द्वारा यह पूजा की जाती है।

शाक्त दर्शन में, दस महाविद्याओं का संबंध भगवान विष्णु के दस अवतारों से भी है। और यह बताता है, कि महाविद्याएँ वे स्रोत हैं, जिनसे भगवान विष्णु के दस अवतार उत्पन्न हुए थे। महाविद्याओं के ये दसों रूप चाहे वे भयानक हों अथवा सौम्य, जग जननी के रूप में पूजे जाते हैं।
दस महाविद्या की पूजा अधिकतर तंत्र के उपासकों द्वारा की जाती है। इन 10 विद्याओं की साधना और उपासना से विशेष फल की प्राप्ति होती है। इन महाविद्याओं की पूजा-अर्चना अपनी आंतरिक शक्तियों को जागृत करने के लिए की जाती है।
