Some 1000 school children gathered in front of Frankfurt's old
opera house on Wednesday (13/9) to protest against the French
nuclear tests in the South Pacific. The school children demanded
an immediate end of the testing at the Mururoa atoll. The
demonstrators walked to the French Consulate where a rally was
held. "The world is unsafe enough already. Now that the French
stepped forward and resumed the nuclear tests, others will
follow," said Moira Gebhard, spokesperson of the organizing Pupils
Federation of Hessia.
