Alastor Being an AroAce Icon

Never did I think I would relate to a cannibalistic serial killer demon, but here I am. Honestly, the whole Rosie moment is just so funny to me. I hope we get to see her making more jokes like that and Alastor just not getting it. The way she knows that Alastor is ace and he is completely clueless is so relatable. I read somewhere that he just thinks he hasn’t met the right person yet, and damn, that hit hard. For a good majority of my life (probably 18-19 years), I thought the same because everyone kept telling me, “You will change your mind when you meet the right person eventually.” Then I discovered the term Asexuality, and everything slowly started to make sense because, guess what? I'm 27 now and nothing has changed. Well, I'm still struggling with parts of myself, but somehow this show actually helped me realize and accept that I'm probably aromantic as well, something I kinda tried to deny for years. I mean, I'm not a hundred percent sure if Alastor is aro himself because I see people constantly arguing whether it's been confirmed or not, but that’s not the point. What’s important is that this show and this character helped me accept parts of myself I tried to deny to continue the dream of wanting to find the perfect romantic partner and seem at least somehow normal to the eyes of our society. I don’t know, it’s hard to put into words. I know aroace people can still have relationships and all that. Just because I don’t feel like having any of that doesn’t mean every other aroace person feels the same. It’s a spectrum after all, but it just feels validating to not have an ace character for once whose ace identity is used to write him struggling with obtaining a romantic relationship. Don’t get me wrong, I love that too. The Outer Worlds did a fantastic job with Parvati on this one, but having a character who shows no interest in having any sexual or romantic relationships and who’s happy being by himself is just really nice. Okay, well, this turned out to be longer than I intended…

Oh, and before you come at me or start arguing in the comments, I don’t care about the shipping wars. Seriously, ship Al with whoever you like. I personally only like one-sided Radiostatic, but I couldn’t care less! I don’t get why people are constantly at each other’s throats about it. Y’all would have a better time if you just interacted with the stuff you like and ignored the stuff you don’t. Just be respectful and don’t write “Fuck his asexuality!” or whatever and everything is fine. This is just a fun little video. Don’t take it too seriously, and I hope some of you will enjoy it. 😊
