Porsche 996 911 Oil Filler Tube Replacement DIY (Porsche 996 Carrera)

►The Porsche 996 oil filler tube is a common point of failure on these chassis. So much so that it's worth inspecting if you don't know the last time it was replaced. Over time and countless heat cycles, the plastic oil filler tube becomes brittle and cracks at the section with the bellows.

Instead of waiting and finding a puddle of oil in your engine bay and underneath your car after you top up your oil, replace it before it fails.

In this DIY, Michael Hidalgo, FCP Euro's resident 996 enthusiast, shows us how to easily replace the oil filler tube at home.

01:22 - Disconnect the battery
02:02 - Disconnect MAF and remove Airbox assembly
03:11 - Remove throttle body
05:52 - Remove Front Intake Plenum
09:21 - Remove and or loosen the serpentine belt
10:52 - Unbolt and remove the alternator
13:18 - Unbolt and remove your Porsche 996 911 Oil Filler Tube
14:05 - Install your new oil filler tube
15:21 - Re-install and torque down your alternator
17:34 - Re-install the front intake plenum
19:21 - Re-install throttle body
21:43 - Re-install the serpentine belt
22:39 - Re-install air box and MAF sensor
