A day of tragedy and unity in Kenya. A horrific accident at Kariandusi on the Nakuru-Nairobi highway has claimed the lives of 13 people after a 14-seater matatu collided head-on with a trailer. The matatu was reportedly overtaking when it crashed, killing all passengers on board. This incident occurred just a day after another fatal crash on the same highway involving an ambulance, which killed six people.

In stark contrast to this tragedy, a powerful story of hope and unity has emerged from Othaya, where thousands of Kenyans, including many from TikTok, gathered to support “Kaluma boy,” a young man who has been caring for his father after he suffered a stroke. The massive turnout, dubbed “Kaluma Day,” has been hailed as a moment of national compassion and solidarity.

Meanwhile, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has arrested two suspects in connection with a car theft ring operating on the Mombasa-Nairobi highway. The suspects, Joseph Katee Nzainga and Nelson Musyoki Mbidyo, are believed to be behind a series of robberies targeting unregistered vehicles and those destined for Uganda. During the arrest, authorities recovered several items, including multiple ID cards, mobile phones, and a set of registration plates.
