Description - A young man named "Rui Ullah" was an associate of Darashiko, the son of Emperor Shah Jahan. After Darashiko was defeated and taken prisoner at the Battle of Samugar, Rui Ullah joined Aurangzeb's army. When Darashiko was taken prisoner to Aurangzeb's court, he joined him. He gained his closeness during Darashiko's captive life. Later, worldly pleasures, meaningless to him, he left the military life. Move to Patna. While there, he concentrated on worship and became a disciple of Hazrat Rukn Uddin, a spiritual saint. Later he became widely known as Garibullah Shah (Rah.). He probably came to Chittagong in the early seventeenth century. At present the GEC designates a suitable place of worship on the south-western hilltop of the junction.

Over time, his identity and fame spread. He died in the late seventeenth century. After the construction of the shrine, religious people from home and abroad came here. People from all walks of life come to the shrine every day to pay their respects.


This forested hill was uninhabited only a hundred years ago. The whole area was scary. After the death of Garib Ullah Shah (Rah.) At the end of the seventeenth century, the number of devotees visiting the shrine increased. It has been observed that almost every day at the mausoleum of Garib Ullah Shah the prayers and offerings including Waz, Korankhani and Doa mahfil are continued.
