올해 단풍은 지금 절정... 알록달록 색깔옷 입은 설악산

On a light note now.
Autumn is in the air... pardon the cliche... but... to share with you... scenes... of the stunning shades... of this particular season... my colleague Song Yoo-jin ... has taken it... upon herself... to venture... outdoors.
Yoo-jin ... welcome.
Let's start... with... where you are?

Good afernoon Sunny.
I'm out here near the entrance to Seoraksan Mountain in Gangwon-do Province, east of the capital Seoul.
This is one of the most well-known fall foliage attractions loved by both locals and tourists.
It's a little past lunchtime and as you can see, more people are coming in to see this spectacular mixture of red, orange, yellow, and green.
Our team has been here since early morning, along with crowds of people, both Koreans, and non-Koreans who came here for some leaf peeping.
The reason it's so busy is that it's currently the peak viewing time for autumn foliage, that is when the leaves on more than 80 percent of trees on the mountain have changed color.
It's less than a month since the first color changes were spotted, and this year's peak is about four or five days later than last year, so not much difference.
So far this month, more than 2-hundred-thousand people have visited here, still below figures recorded before the pandemic, but similar to last year's number.
And I got to talk to some of them.
Take a listen.

"Just coming here is like 15 minutes, but I took like 10, 15, 20 pictures because it's so beautiful like the colors on the trees and the ground."

"The autumn leaves here are definitely more colorful than in Seoul so it's really pleasing to the eye."

And... I completely agree... with that.
So... Yoo-jin ... how long... will these autumn colors... be around... for?

Sunny, I have to say that the clock is ticking.
These leaves will stay like this for around only a week to 10 days before losing their color.
For Seoraksan mountain, the colors will begin fading starting this weekend, but you can still head off to other parts of the country to enjoy the season's colors in the mountains.
Those in the south can consider places like Jirisan, Naejangsan, and Hallasan Mountains, which will hit peak fall foliage from late October to early November.
So if you want to enjoy some fall colors, I suggest you look at your calendar and start planning now.
And always make sure to keep an eye on where you're heading and the weather conditions as most accidents in the mountains tend to happen in October.
Back to you Sunny.
