BOY COMMANDOS 1. This book is a trip in the way-back machine to 1942. A reprint of the Simon-Kirby DC comic featuring an international group of kids taking on the Axis all across Europe. There's a couple different stories within and, in typical Kirby fashion, each title page is a big ol' splash of action. Most pages use an 8-panel layout. You can see Kirby playing with different panel shapes. It's a shame how this was reprinted, though. Shrunken down from original size to fit the standard comic page really tightens up and crowds the art. Still, a cool piece of Kirby history that deserves a place in #JackKirby_June as a comparison to how he evolves over the course of his prolific career.
