Krishna Das Live - from the Matrimandir Amphitheater in Auroville, India

Krishna Das visits the international town of Auroville in southeast India, chanting in the sacred space of the Matrimandir Amphitheater. The event livestream begins at 8:00am EST on February 12, 2023. Joining Krishna Das are David Estes on dholak, and Nina Rao on kartals.

Auroville is the world’s largest international intentional community built on the principle of fostering the spirit of human unity. It was founded on February 28, 1968 by Mirra Alfassa, known as the Mother.

Auroville’s inauguration in 1968 was held on the site of the Amphitheater that will host Krishna Das. The urn in the amphitheater contains soil placed by representatives of the 124 nations and 23 Indian States that participated in the Auroville inauguration ceremony in 1968.

The Auroville Charter, handwritten by the Mother, along with handfuls of soil from all over India and the world, are sealed inside the Urn.
