EarthRoamer gets new in-motion HP Starlink

Описание к видео EarthRoamer gets new in-motion HP Starlink

This video shows how we installed gen2 in-motion Starlink gear on our roamer. It may be a little different than other Starlink install videos because we installed it using threaded inserts potted into the roof to make it more secure and removable. I think the process we used is maybe a little unique so give it a watch if you are interested in that sort of thing.
Background...We took our roamer down to the tip of Baja on a 6 week adventure in November that was fantastic...however we realized how much time we wasted hanging out in small towns trying to get some cell coverage. We needed to get messages to family or contractors and trying to do research on cool places to explore or download offline maps for route planning. We also realized our inReach satellite coms are unreliable and slow when needed in areas with no cell coverage. Internet access isn't all about social media and watching movies...although really nice on rainy days! Internet access allows us to find really cool places to explore that we would have missed otherwise and stay in touch with fellow overlanders. We made the mistake of not bringing our portable gen1 Starlink gear after reading a few errant posts saying it didn't work well. Anyway...we decided to install the gen2 in-motion Starlink gear on our roamer before we head north to Alaska in the spring on our next adventure. This will be the start of our multi-year PanAm adventure and good coms with be key.
