In a tragic incident during a Ramleela performance in Khaira village, Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh, the actor playing Lord Ram, Naitik Pandey, has been booked under the SC/ST Act after an arrow he shot struck the actor playing Ravan, Sunil Kumar, in the eye. The incident, which occurred on November 13, 2025, resulted in Sunil Kumar losing vision in one eye, with the victim alleging that the act was intentional as the accused used a non-committee hardwood arrow and fired multiple times despite instructions. Sunil further claims that when he sought financial help for his medical treatment, the organizers and the accused verbally abused him with casteist slurs and threatened his life. While the accused maintains it was a pure accident, the police registered an FIR in late January following administrative delays and a formal complaint from the victim, who is now struggling with deteriorating vision in both eyes.
