Exploring the Hidden Shrine on Tikus Island, Penang

The Rat Island of Penang, Malaysia. An odd name at that, but the island can often be confused by the area on the Penang Island itself also known as Pulau Tikus, even though it's not an island.

The island itself was named by Eurasians who were one of the first communities to settle down in Penang, when they first landed on the Tikus Island back in 1810. The name was derived from the shape of rocks or dunes around the island that look like running rats at low tide.

The most interesting and mysterious part of the island is the shrine of a muslim saint who is mysteriously undocumented on the internet. Here’s the full-story on Tikus Island.
