Jaguar E-type - how to fix rust and old repairs properly with plenty of metalwork and welding.

Here’s a Series 2 E-type roadster we completed a 1500 hour restoration on late spring this year.

What started out as a few blisters here and there quickly turned into an engine and drive train removal, the exterior of the car completely bare metalled removing all the old paint and filler.

Once the car was loaded on our Globaljig and bolted down to all its major location points we could begin with cutting out years of poor repairs and excessive corrosion replacing it all with new panels.

The metalwork stage was fairly comprehensive but not at all surprising and came in at around 400 hours, fairly typical of a car having gone through long periods of relatively low value.
