In this educational video series, Zach Santmier, the owner of Trumble Insurance Agency, gives you helpful pieces of information so you can make an educated decision as your auto insurance changes in July, 2020.

Your auto insurance declaration page has a Michigan Catastrophic Claims Association (MCCA) fee on it. MCCA in theory insures the insurance companies because of unlimited medical benefits, this is due to there being no ceiling on how much can be paid on an auto insurance policy for medical benefits.

In July 2019, the MCCA fee went up to $200 - $220 per vehicle (depending on assessment fees and a few other factors), and is in addition to the personal injury protection you already have. In July 2020, even if you choose unlimited personal injury protection coverage, the price should go down to about $100-120 (as this video was published, meaning it could be reduced down further yet!). The line item for Personal Injury Protection will go down 10% if you choose unlimited coverage and is locked in for 8 years.
