명성은 불과 같다.
Fame is like fire.

불을 붙이면 쉽게 보존할 수 있습니다.
When you have kindled you may easily preserve it.

그러나 불을 끄면 쉽게 다시 불을 붙일 수 없습니다.
But if you extinguish it, you will not easily kindle it again.

명성은 평판 또는 주변의 이미지라고 볼 수 있습니다.
Fame can be seen as a reputation or an image of the surroundings.

한 번 좋아진 명성은 자기 힘으로 점점 커져갑니다.
Once a good reputation grows on one's own.

하지만 꺼져버린 당신의 명성을 다시 살리기란 거의 불가능에 가깝습니다.
But it's almost impossible to revive your extinguished reputation.

평가 중인 상태에서는 어떻게든 변할 수 있지만 평가가 끝나버린 상태에서는 평가를 다시 받기란 정말 힘듭니다.
It can change somehow when you're evaluating, but when you're done, it's really hard to get an evaluation again.

남의 눈치만 보라는 건 아닙니다.
I'm not saying that you should only look at others.

자신이 옳다 생각하면 남의 눈치는 볼 필요가 없습니다.
If you think you're right, you don't have to look at others.

그리고 그 행동들이 명성이 되고 평판이 되고 이미지가 됩니다.
And the actions become fame, reputation, image.

기회는 연속적입니다.
Opportunities are continuous.

하나의 기회가 다른 기회로 연결됩니다.
One opportunity leads to another.

오는 기회는 예측이 가능합니다.
Opportunities coming are predictable.

지나간 기회는 더 이상 기회가 아닙니다.
Past opportunities are no longer opportunities.

작든 크든 기회를 만났다면 그 기회를 놓치지 말고 악착같이 다음 기회로 연결해야 합니다.
If you encounter an opportunity, whether small or large, you should not miss it and firmly connect it to the next opportunity.

모든 기회가 내 손에서 빠져나갔다면 당신의 옆에는 절망뿐일 겁니다.
If every opportunity has escaped my hands, there will be nothing but despair next to you.

절망 속에서도 기회는 찾을 수 있습니다.
Opportunities can be found in despair.

당신이 절망 속에서 무뎌지지만 않는다면 기회는 언제나 발견 가능합니다.
Opportunities are always discoverable if you don't become dull in despair.

We cannot command Nature except by obeying her.

혹자는 인간이 이미 자연을 지배한다고 이야기 합니다.
Some say that humans already dominate nature.

원하는만큼 자연을 파괴하기도 하고 원하는만큼 자연을 살리고 있으니까요.
They destroy nature as much as they want, and they save nature as much as they want.

그건 아주 작은 개개인의 의견일 뿐입니다.
That's just a very small individual opinion.

우리는 토네이도, 해일, 화산폭발, 태풍, 무더위 그 어느것도 지배하지 못 합니다.
We don't control tornadoes, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, typhoons, heat waves.

더위는 그대로입니다.

진실은 혼란에서보다 오류에서 더 쉽게 나옵니다.
Truth emerges more readily from error than from confusion.

우리에게 좋은 이론이 필요한지에 대해서 생각해 볼 필요가 있습니다.
We need to think about whether we need a good theory.

잘못된 이론이라도 우리에게는 필요합니다.
We need the wrong theory.

이론이 없다면 우리는 혼란스럽고 어둠 속에 존재할 것입니다.
Without theory, we would be confused and exist in the dark.

진실은 더욱더 멀어질 것입니다.
The truth will be further and further away.

틀린 이론은 수정하면 됩니다.
You can correct the wrong theory.

그리고 진실에 다가가면 됩니다.
And you just have to get to the truth.

하지만 아무 이론도 없는 혼란 상태라면 기준점이 없게 됩니다.
But if you're in a state of confusion with no theory, there's no reference point.

맞는지 틀린 지 생각조차 못 하고 대중에게 시대의 흐름에 휩쓸려갈 뿐입니다.
You can't even think about whether it's right or wrong, and you're just swept away by the trend of the times by the public.

They all look smart in our ordinary eyes.

그들이 어떤 의도로 행동하는지 파악하지 못할 때가 더 많습니다.
More often than not, they don't understand what intentions they are acting on.

그럴 때는 일이 벌어졌을 때 누가 이득을 보는가를 생각해 보시기 바랍니다.
In that case, think about who benefits from what happens.

일은 이미 벌어지고 편을 나누고 싸우고 책임은 전가하고 무고한 자를 벌하게 됩니다.
Things have already happened, divided sides, fought, passed on responsibility, and punished the innocent.

무고한 자에게 죄를 물었으니 더 이상 누구에게도 죄를 물으면 안 되는 걸까요?
Now that I've sinned against an innocent person, can I not sin against anyone anymore?

교활한 자들은 그런 부끄러움 따위는 없습니다.
Sneaky people have no such shame.

부끄러움을 아는 자들이 멈춰있을 때 그들은 멈추지 않습니다.
When those who know shame stop they don't stop.

책임을 지는 건 옷을 벗고 아무것도 안 하는 것이 아닙니다.
Taking responsibility is not taking off your clothes and doing nothing.

책임을 지는 건 잘못된 것을 바로잡는 게 책임을 지는 것입니다.
To take responsibility is to correct the wrong.
