absentia 083 implements the perk system, though there is only 1 perk as of now:
- pickpocketing 1: allows you to pick locks and pickpocket NPCs
- pickpocketing 2: same as rank 1 but you do it a little faster (exclusive to Diamond)
- pickpocketing 3: detection range for pickpocketing is reduced (exclusive to Garnet)

there are also 3 types of perks
minor perks - the basic and repeatable perks
major perks - new abilities and buffs (pickpocketing skill is a good example of this)
specialization - even better abilities and buffs
