Muskets & Tomahawks in Morocco - Playing a skirmish game to prepare for the great battle

As part of a small imaginary campaign in Morocco, we played this game of Muskets & Tomahawks. The assumption of the campaign is that the Moroccans have put Melilla under siege in 1715, so a large Spanish expedition has landed in North Africa to rescue the city and pacify the area once and for all.

Our assumption is imaginary, but the truth is that a few decades after our assumption Melilla was indeed immersed in a long siege, this time real.

In our game, the Spanish army advanced by sweeping away small pockets of resistance, while the Moroccans tried to gain time to gather their entire army. Now they are about to meet, but for the moment it is their advance parties that are trying to reconnoiter the terrain and occupy the best starting positions.
