Well, here's the last of these 3 westbound trains that passed in the mid-morning on this day. For those unfamiliar with train IDs in our area, you're probably thinking what "U" means for this train. Most CSX empty coal trains on the Cumberland Subdivision have an "E" symbol. This train is the exception. Of course, "N" is typically the letter for loaded coals, but this empty coal's counterpart (when it's loaded) is actually T315, not N315. T and N are loaded coal ID symbols for CSX, while U and E are empties. The T and U trains through the general area pass very occasionally. We knew off the bat that this empty coal was one of two IDs: E770 or U315, as they are the only 2 coal trains that pass the Cumberland Subdivision with tan, non "CSX" hoppers. I found out this particular empty coal was U315 and not E770 for two reasons: 1 because E770 actually passed in the middle of the night on this day, and 2 because these are 5 Bay hoppers, and E770 uses slightly different, bigger hoppers. Both IDs have tan hoppers but they have a slight difference in size. While this catch wasn't all that special, it's not every day that T or U315 pass through the general area, so we'll take it. Plus, it's a train, and I like catching anything no matter what. Sure I prefer certain trains over others, but it never hurts to catch anything. T and U315 has a rather long route, going from Newell, Pennsylvania to Cross, South Carolina, so this train takes the Metropolitan Subdivision at Point of Rocks.
