Airline passengers flying out of Ohio airports who do not have a REAL ID–compliant form of identification by Sunday, Feb. 1, will be able to use a new Transportation Security Administration identity verification option — for a fee.

Beginning Feb. 1, travelers without a REAL ID, passport or other acceptable identification may pay a $45 fee to use TSA ConfirmID, a modernized identity verification system designed for passengers who have lost their ID or do not possess compliant identification.

The TSA said the ConfirmID process allows travelers to verify their identity before arriving at the airport security checkpoint. The verification typically takes between 10 and 15 minutes, though it could take 30 minutes or longer in some cases. Once completed, the verification is valid for 10 days.
