It has been another weird year of COVID disruption, lockdowns, home-schooling, some shitty weather and the more regular balancing act of work, family and climbing, but putting this video together has reminded me of lots of good times on the rock. Some of my 'hardest' and most enjoyable sends came in dawn sessions through the Summer/Autumn months, and I really enjoyed getting up early and trying hard, with the crags to myself as the birds tweeted, deer roared and sheep scuttled off...
It never seems like I've done enough, and it always feels like an uphill battle, fighting ageing, injury, terminal punterdom, and constant time pressure, but the fight is where the pleasure is.
This year I finally did a bit of training, so, thanks to Alex Hithersay for working with me for a few months. "You always seem like you're in a rush". Yup, that's my life :) I finally used my fingerboard, made some gains, then got busy, weak and 'heavy' in the last part of the year. Psyched for 2022!
