Men account for roughly 75% of all suicide deaths in both the U.S. and Canada—and in the U.S. specifically, it's about 79%, with roughly 100 men dying by suicide every day.

U.S. suicide rate among men in 2022 was 22.9 per 100,000, nearly 4× higher than women’s rate of 5.9. Suicide remains the 2nd leading cause of death for men under 45 in the U.S., and the leading or second in Canada for men under 50.

Despite risks, only about 1 in 5 men see a mental health professional in the year before suicide—compared to \~35% of women.

Roughly 9–10% of adult men in the U.S. experience a depressive illness each year; men are less likely to be diagnosed or treated than women despite similar symptoms.
