Cassava is one of the major staple crop produced in Ghana. Almost every farmer in Ghana grows cassava for either subsistence or commercial purposes. It is the major food crop found in the district. Cassava alone contributes about 22% of agricultural GDP in Ghana for food or domestic purposes but its industrial processing and utilization has been very limited.

Mpohor District is no exception when it come to the cultivation of cassava. It is the major food crop found in the district.
However, farmers in the district are face with the challenge of poor to no market for their product mostly at peak harvest. This sometimes result in cassava rot when they are left standing for extra months after maturity.

In our bid to intercept this challenge through community empowerment, Ciceyaa Foundation is establishing a community cassava farm with initial ten (10) acreages of land and employing 14 youths in Trebuom a community in the Mpohor district for Garri production.

Processing cassava into Gari at Ciceyaa Mini Gari Factory would not only provide employment for the community folks but will also give farmers an outlet to sell their produce and this will ensure food security, since Gari could be kept safe for years.
This is to enable us to achieve SDG1 and SDG2 in our own small way.
