The Mexican Revolution: The Struggle that Changed Mexico

On November 20th, we celebrate the Mexican Revolution, a pivotal event in Mexico's history that lasted almost a decade. This struggle began in 1910 to overthrow Porfirio Díaz, who had ruled for over 30 years. Despite his contributions to infrastructure and the economy, the majority of Mexicans lived in poverty while land and wealth were concentrated in the hands of a few.

Led by Francisco I. Madero, revolutionaries like Emiliano Zapata and Pancho Villa emerged, representing the fight for justice for peasants and workers. The Revolution saw major battles, political upheavals, and the eventual reform of the Mexican Constitution in 1917 under Venustiano Carranza. This movement forever changed the course of the nation, shaping modern Mexico.
