For the 16th episode of KRConsultancy's Summer Series, I invited Farooq Hassan, an Erasmus Mundus scholar in the International Master of Fire Safety Engineering (IMFSE).

Farooq takes us behind the scenes of his Erasmus Mundus Fire Safety journey, beginning at UET with a Civil Engineering degree and a strong GPA, which set the stage for securing multiple scholarships. Eventually, he chose IMFSE, a very coveted scholarship program among civil engineers.

He shares the realities of rotating between the Universities of Ghent, Edinburgh, Catalonia, and Lund while navigating visa hurdles, administrative processes, and mobility challenges that many Erasmus scholars face. Alongside these transitions, Farooq recalls working through tough academic adjustments especially the thermodynamics modules, which felt overwhelming at first but became a turning point in building his technical foundation.
