PREPPING VECTOR FOR LASER ENGRAVING IN INKSCAPE

Описание к видео PREPPING VECTOR FOR LASER ENGRAVING IN INKSCAPE

Skip ahead 1 minute if you don't want to see me draw a viperfish :) Written instructions below.

Open image file in Inkscape.

EDIT - SELECT ALL
PATH - TRACE BITMAP
LAYER - LAYERS AND OBJECTS

SELECT PATH
OBJECT - FILL AND STROKE

FILL - x No paint
STROKE PAINT red
STROKE STYLE - WIDTH 0.100 px

PATH - BREAK APART
(DELETE every path that is not the outline.)

If you want to cut this out exactly you're done, Export as .svg after. If you want an outline with a wider margin:

Select PATH
PATH - OUTSET

If you want to add shapes, make them, select one, hold shift, select the other(s). Then: PATH - UNION

EXPORT Document as .svg

As expected when importing to glowforge's app, the vector will be cut and the img will be engraved. If you instead import this to COREL DRAW just double check to see if the vector line is set to Hairline width before proceeding.
