Abandoned 1930s Trout Hatchery Reborn In Hills of Appalachia!

Local food and how it is raised is an increasingly important topic of conversation, especially in Appalachia and places with challenges accessing it. In this episode I travel to the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia to explore a revitalized 1930's Trout Hatchery. Here I talk with Ty & Shannon Walker of Smoke in Chimneys about their vision for sustainable local food, and tour their operation to learn what they're doing to cultivate that vision with local restaurants, farmers markets, on-farm events, and partner farms like Joel Salatin's Polyface Farm.
