2024 State of Indian Nations Address

Описание к видео 2024 State of Indian Nations Address

Each year, the President of the National Congress of American Indians presents the State of Indian Nations address to members of Congress, government officials, tribal leaders and citizens, and the American public. This year's event signifies a new era of NCAI leadership and will be delivered for the first time by newly-elected NCAI President Mark Macarro. President Macarro’s address promises to articulate a visionary path forward for Tribal Nations, setting the tone for a year of unity and progress, opportunities for success and advancement of Native peoples, and priorities to advance nation-to-nation relationships with the United States.

To facilitate direct engagement between Congress and Tribal Nations, a member of Congress is also invited each year to deliver a congressional response to the State of Indian Nations. Previous congressional speakers have included Senator Elizabeth Warren, Representative Sharice Davids, Senator Maria Cantwell, Senator Lisa Murkowski, and Representative Tom Cole, among many others. This year's congressional response was delivered by U.S. Representative Mary Peltola, the first-ever Alaska Native elected to congress.
