Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and NCP leader Ajit Pawar died in a tragic plane crash in Baramati on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. The DGCA confirmed that the Learjet 45 business jet carrying Pawar and four others crash-landed while attempting to land at Baramati airport, killing everyone on board. Those who died include his security personnel, an attendant, the aircraft’s first captain, and the pilot. Pawar had departed from Mumbai earlier in the morning to attend political engagements in Baramati.
