Autistic children will grow out of their dining chairs.
What can parents do? This is a really easy do it yourself (DIY) fix that can help take the stress out of children with autism getting up from the table. This is something that a healthcare worker can implement in a home setting when presented with this problem, or simply us parents with autistic kids. I wanted to do a sample video showing all health care providers, personal care workers, CNA's or daycares that have larger children with special needs.
We can turn a simple dining chair into a helpful piece of adaptive equipment. Adapting a chair for your autistic child may be necessary as he grows. We use a seat buckle on the chair to easily secure our child into his seat while dining for his safety. Children with developmental disabilities or some form of asd can seriously benefit from an adapted seat.
