But this story used to top BEST STORY EVER polls every single time. Cited as the best Doctor Who story ever for years, is it really as good as its reputation suggests?

Introducing Davros for the first time as we go back to the Daleks' origins, Terry Nation turns in a script so unlike any he had ever done before that the show's script editor, producer and leading man all rally to turn it into something really special.

Best story ever? Remains to be seen given how much ground is left to cover on this marathon but I'm happy with claiming it's certainly the best story so far...
