Screaming Mummy: Recent DNA studies on the mysterious mummy found in the Deir el Bahari complex confirm that he was Prince Pentawere, the son of Pharaoh Ramses III. Ancient Egyptian records describe Pentawere as a key figure in the so called Harem Conspiracy that attempted to assassinate his own father. According to the sources, he was sentenced to deat h by hanging and to this day the marks on his neck support this account. In addition, his body was not properly mummified: instead of linen wrappings, his corpse was covered with sheepskin which was considered impure in ancient Egyptian belief. This suggests a deliberate act of humiliation after his execution.
