The Rise of SEMO Football

Before the arrival of head coach Tom Matukewicz, Southeast Missouri State was always finishing towards the bottom of the Ohio Valley Conference since joining the FCS ranks in the early 90s. Since coach Tuke’s arrival, they have gone to the FCS playoffs three times and have won a share of the conference twice. When it was announced that a Missouri FCS school was going to be joining the FBS, some may have thought it should have been the Redhawks, not rival Missouri State. This year, they are off to an 8-1 start and are currently ranked sixth in the FCS having one of their greatest seasons in program history. This is the rise of Southeast Missouri Football.
