We all love a deep forward pass, but it’s the Backwards Pass (or Lateral) that creates the wildest moments in the NFL!

The Lateral Breakdown:
The Rule: You can only throw the ball forward ONCE per play, and it must be from behind the line of scrimmage. But you can pass the ball backwards or sideways as many times as you want, anywhere on the field!
The Risk: Unlike a forward pass, if a lateral hits the ground, the play isn't dead. It’s a Live Ball. It’s treated exactly like a fumble, meaning the defence can scoop it up and score!
The Controversy: We saw this intensity recently during the Rams and Seahawks game. Even when the call is clear by the rulebook, the speed and chaos of laterals always lead to big debates!
The "Miracle" Attempt: You’ll usually see this at the very end of a game when a team is desperate and starts tossing the ball around like a hot potato to keep the play alive.
