By carefully tuning the frequency of our modulation sources, it’s possible to modulate the VCO frequency, and the harmonics it contains, in such a way that the two simultaneous modulations drift in and out of phase with each other. If the modulations are happening in opposite directions, it can create the aural illusion of upward and downward movement happening at the same time.
