At CAPS Intervention Academy, we created the courses with the Four Stages of Competence introduced by Noel Burch in the 1970s in mind.
Four stages of learning a new skill are described by the stages of competence model, also known as the "Conscious Competence" model: 1. unconscious incompetence, 2. conscious incompetence, 3. conscious competence, and 4. unconscious competence. In other words, you go from not knowing you don't know a skill to realizing your inexperience, then actively learning until you can efficiently perform the skill. Unconscious competence (Mastery) is the CAPS learning goal for you!
