Emily arrived in Brazil last night.

She didn’t sleep much, but she woke up happy.

The sun came through the window, and the air was warm.

— “Wow, it’s my first day in Brazil!” — she said, smiling.

She left the hotel and walked down the street.

Everything was new: the sound of people talking, the smell of coffee, the warm air.

A man smiled and said:

— “Good morning!”

Emily was surprised, but she answered:

— “Good morning!”

She kept walking until she saw the sea.

The blue was so beautiful that she stopped and took a deep breath.

For the first time, Emily felt she was truly in Brazil.

Emily walked along the beach with her feet in the sand.
The sun was strong, and she realized that Brazilian heat was no joke.

— “Oh my God… it’s so hot!” — she said, fanning her face with her hand.

A man selling drinks came closer and smiled:
— “Would you like some coconut water, miss?”

Emily looked at the big green coconut.
— “Coconut water?” — she asked curiously.

The man laughed:
— “That’s right! Nice and cold!”

She tried it and smiled.
— “Delicious!” — she said with a strong accent.

Then she tried to pay, but the man said:
— “You can pay later, pretty tourists get a discount!”

Emily looked confused.
— “What? Discount?” — and they both started laughing.

Later, she decided to take a bus to downtown.
But… she forgot to ask which one.
She got on the first bus she saw and sat down.

Ten minutes later, she realized the bus was going to the other side of the city.
She looked out the window and said:
— “Oh no… I’m lost again!”

An old man next to her asked kindly:
— “Are you lost, miss?”

She thought for a moment and answered with a shy smile:
— “Yes… a little.”

The man laughed and said:
— “Welcome to Brazil. Here, we always get lost… but we always find a friend.”

Emily smiled.
And at that moment, she was sure of one thing:
Brazil would be a great adventure.
