D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser and District leaders are responding to recent reports accusing Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela Smith of pressuring staff to manipulate crime data.

"Chief Smith, the commanders testified, was so preoccupied with the statistics of the select crimes that were made public that she incentivized her subordinates to lower those crimes by whatever means necessary," the interim report from the House Oversight Committee states.

That report was prepared by the majority staff.

Bowser said she doesn't see any evidence in that report of Smith manipulating numbers.
