After spending a good amount of time testing my Jane V2 ME, I’ve grown to understand its overall sound character. Compared to more modern “clacky” boards like the Neo65, the Jane V2 ME has a flatter sound profile, meaning it’s quieter and thinner. Don’t get me wrong, it doesn’t mean the board is bad.

When comparing it to the TGR Tomo, the Tomo sounds noticeably fuller. However, in terms of resonance, the Jane performs better. The Tomo (especially in top mount) tends to benefit from force break, whereas the Jane’s natural resonance is more subtle and, in my experience, still very enjoyable even without any force break mods.

The stock aluminum backplate brings the board to 2382g fully built. I swapped it for a custom stainless steel backplate, increasing the weight to 2784g. Sound-wise, the heavier backplate really helps reduce resonance and makes the board sound fuller overall.
