Tailings Management for Engineers

Описание к видео Tailings Management for Engineers

The Talk
Tailings come in many shapes and sizes, and have unique properties and behaviors which vary both spatially and temporally in a tailings facility. This presentation will provide a broad overview of common tailings technologies and highlight some key properties to consider in design and management of tailings facilities. The talk will highlight the importance of measurement versus observation and the role of the tailings system and the plan-do-check-act cycle in developing facilities that evolve over many decades of operation.

The Speaker
Andrew Witte is a senior geotechnical engineer and KCB Associate with experience on a variety of mining, infrastructure, municipal and industrial related projects. His main focus is on the safe design, construction, operation and closure of earth and rockfill embankment dams. He is the designated Engineer of Record for several operating and closed tailings dams in Canada, including two 500+ ft high cycloned sand dams.
