Pyramid Lake is home to some of the largest trout in the world, and in this video we break down exactly how we caught a 23.6-pound giant Lahontan cutthroat trout using a bottom-jig SuperTube setup. These fish are not easy to catch, and small details make all the difference—especially when you’re targeting true trophy-class Pyramid Lake cutthroat trout.

We were fishing Golden State Fishing Custom Baits 4” SuperTubes paired with heavier-than-usual jig heads to keep the bait tight to the bottom. Keeping the presentation low and slow proved critical, as these big Lahontans were glued to the lake floor and would not move far to feed. This heavier jig approach helped maintain bottom contact in deeper water while still giving the SuperTube a natural, triggering action.
