DMK cadre stage demonstration at NEET

Tiruchirappalli (About this sound pronunciation (formerly Trichinopoly in English), also called Tiruchi or Trichy, is a city in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu and the administrative headquarters of Tiruchirappalli District. It is the fourth largest municipal corporation and the fourth largest urban agglomeration in the state. They insist on exemption from National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for State

Cadre of the DMK and other opposition parties staged a demonstration here on Wednesday demanding that Tamil Nadu be exempted from National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).

During the demonstration held at Chinthamani, they condemned the Central and State governments accusing them of being responsible for the death of Anitha, a Dalit girl of Ariyalur who ended her life recently unable to join MBBS course due to poor score in NEET.

Members of the Congress, the Left parties, the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, the Indian Union Muslim League, the Manithaneya Makkal Katchi and the Dravidar Kazhagam participated in the demonstration, led by former Minister and DMK south district secretary K.N. Nehru.

The opposition parties and student representatives from city colleges assailed Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami for implementation of NEET.

Thanjavur

Cadre of the DMK and other allied parties staged demonstrations in Thanjavur and Tiruvarur districts on Wednesday demanding exemption to Tamil Nadu from NEET.

In Thanjavur, the demonstration held near the Panagal Buildings was led by Thanjavur North DMK district secretary S. Kalyanasundaram and those who participated in the protest included former Union Ministers T.R. Baalu, S.S. Palanimanikkam, L. Ganesan, former Minister S.N.M. Ubayadullah, MLAs S. Ramachandran, Kovi. Chezhian, Thanjavur south district secretary Durai Chanrasekaran and party town secretary T.K.G. Neelamegam.

Congress district president T. Krishnaswamy Vandayar, town unit president Rajendran, CPI (M) district secretary Manoharan, State committee member Neelamegam, town secretary Senthil Kumar, CPI district secretary Thirugnanam, DK district president Amar Singh participated in the demonstration.

Tiruvarur

In Tiruvarur, the demonstration was organised near the bus stand and CPI State secretary R. Mutharasan led the protest in which DMK district secretary Poondi K. Kalaivanan, CPI district secretary Selvaraj, Congress district president S.M.B. Duraivelan, CPI (M) district secretary Selvaraj participated.

Similar demonstrations were held at Perambalur and Pudukottai also.
