THIS VISUAL EFFECTS SHOT from Stargate SG-1's second season premiere is one of the show's cooler moments, as SG-1 and Bra'tac barely escape from Apophis' exploding motherships. This was 1998, and while digital compositing was key to the process the show's VFX entailed extensive work with practical models.

In this clip visual effects supervisor John Gajdecki is back to share more from his VFX vault with "Dial the Gate!" John reveals how the burning effect on the death glider was achieved, filling out the rest of the shot, and how many hours of work went into these few seconds. He also shows off several other effects from "The Serpent's Lair," from the Horus mask to the glider launch.
