Title Slide: Chapter 1
The film begins with a portrait of Prince Chichibu and Princess Chichibu. The Japanese flag waves in the wind. Prince Chichibu was the younger brother to Emperor Hirohito. Princess Chichibu’s name was Matsudaira Setsuko, and she was the daughter of Matsudaira Tsuneo, Japanese ambassador to the United States and later Great Britain

Title slide: Prince Chichibu and Princess Chichibu are visiting Canada as Imperial representatives to attend British King George VI’s coronation.

A Japanese flag waves in the wind atop the Japanese Hall and Vancouver Japanese Language School at 487 Alexander Street. The next shot shows East Cordova and Main Street, looking north towards the Canadian National Steamships Pier. Asian Canadians walk the streets. Main Street is decorated with British and Japanese flags. Written on Japanese temporary structures on the sidewalks are the Japanese characters “Welcome”. Following are street view and birds-eye-view shots of a street, likely Powell Street. The streets are lined with more Japan and British flags. The film returns to the extended tilting shot of the Japanese Hall and Vancouver Japanese Language School.

Title slide: Welcoming fishing boats leave Steveston
The film shows the Fisherman’s Hospital. A Japanese fishing boat flying a Japanese flag, and a”Welcome” pennant, floats through the harbour. This shot is followed by a group of Japanese Canadian fishing boats along the Fraser River. Boats, filled with Japanese Canadians wave Japanese and British flags at the camera.

Title slide: Imperial Highnesses’ ship Heian Maru appears in William Head, outside the Victoria Harbour. = March 29 Noon =
The Heian Maru lowers a staircase at the ship’s side, non-Japanese Canadian officials board the ship. Prince Chichibu stands on the ship’s deck with other Japanese people. Other Japanese men in suits (possibly as part of the Canadian Japanese Welcoming Association?) stand before the camera. Prince Chichibu and Princess Chichibu stand before the camera on the ship’s deck, and looks out towards the surrounding landscape.

Title slide: About 200 welcoming Japanese fishing boats at the mouth of the Fraser River.
From within one of the ship’s cabins, Prince Chichibu and Princess Chichibu view the harbour with binoculars. As the group of Japanese Canadian fishing boats approach, they exchange waves. Some boats filled with crowds of Japanese Canadians wave, and wave the Japan flags. Prince Chichibu and Princess Chichibu wave the flags in return.

Title slide: Welcoming boats at Point Grey
Another fishing boat with a Japanese flag moves across the harbour. Following are scenes of the Brockton Point Lighthouse. A line of fishing boats continue across the water near Brockton Point. From the ship, another line of fishing boats continue to welcome Prince Chichibu and Princess Chichibu. Japan flag waving is exchanged.

The ship docks at the CPR Pier C. Prince Chichibu and Princess Chichibu look out the deck. Various non-Japanese Canadian men in British or Canadian regalia board the ship. Photos are taken. Outside the CPR Pier B-C, Japanese Canadians holding Japan flags wait to welcome Prince Chichibu and Princess Chichibu.
