Michael is sitting on a bench waiting for the bus when he is approached by Officer Kyle Jacobs. The officer asks him what he is doing in the area, as the bus stop is on the other side of the mall. Michael explains to the officer that he is blind and not familiar with the area. When he sees Michael's cane, Officer Jacobs immediately mistakes it for a weapon.
