Designed by Georgian immigrant Alexander Kartveli, the P-47 Thunderbolt first took to the skies on 6th May 1941 and went on to become one of the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) main fighters of World War II, and saw service with many other air forces, including France, Britain, and Russia

Special attention has been paid to the design of the sub-dials, which closely resemble the aircraft's dashboard design and are attached to the main dial by screws. The chronograph's hands and indexes are identical to the real WALTHAM 8 day cockpit clock from the P-47 cockpit
