457 Visa

The 457 visa is used by employers to sponsor employees to work for their businesses. This Visa is suitable for anyone who wants to migrate to australia through a job sponsor (also known as skilled migration). The validity of this visa is up to 4 years however it can be extended and may also lead to permanent residency in Australia, eventually. In this duration the holder can work ONLY for the sponsoring employer.

The 3 Application Steps are:

1. Sponsorship:
This step includes providing background information about the business (like financials and training records.) to the Department of immigration

2. Nomination
The Australian Immigration Department reviews the position applied for. It is necessary for the occupation to be on the approved list for 457 visas. Sometimes the employer may need to prove that they tried recruiting locally first. However, once set, the base salary is usually around $54,000

3. The Visa application
The final stage is to apply for a 457 work visa! This involves collating various documents to prove the following:
1. Eligibility:
The applicant must demonstrate that his/her skills are aligned with the nominated job position. This may include his/her academic certificates, experience certificates etc.

2. English requirement:
The applicant must meet the English requirement via an acceptable English test like IELTS, PTE, OET etc. The current requirement for ielts is a band 5 in all areas.

3.Health requirements:
The applicant must pass the health requirements and hold a valid health insurance.
