Carol of the Bells [Dark Instrumental Version] - Midnight Syndicate (Visualizer)

This is a dark, more gothic instrumental version of "Carol of the Bells" by Halloween music composers Midnight Syndicate. It was taken from their new haunted Yuletide-inspired album, "Christmas: A Ghostly Gathering." The album is a blend of classic carols with a Midnight Syndicate twist and new, original material. Composer Gavin Goszka had this to say about his take on Mykola Leontovych's classic carol. "Right from the beginning, I knew I wanted this song to involve polyrhythms (one meter or rhythmic pattern playing against a different one). Being a big fan of progressive rock, I'm always looking for opportunities to tap that influence and this one absolutely cried out for it. The song starts out rather traditionally with a clear feel of three, but after the first choral section, I bring in several very syncopated lines that shift the emphasis so that it feels like it's in four, where it stays until the outro. The real trick was getting this transition, as well as the one back to three at the end, to sound reasonably natural without creating a jarring shift in the overall flow of the song. Yes, it's a bit unusual, but I think it helps bring a unique energy to the arrangement that simply treating it in three the entire way through wouldn't have been able to do."
