An important precondition for good vision after cataract surgery is optimal fixation and alignment of the artificial lens in the eye. With femtosecond laser technology completely new possibilities are emerging: the laser cuts with the finest precision and accuracy an exact and round capsule opening in every desired size and best placing on the so-called visual axis or pupil center. The laser uses a high-resolution imaging method to measure the individual anatomy of the eye. Furthermore, the laser is able to dissolve the cloudy cataract eye lens, which usually also shows a certain hardening, with the laser beam, so that the lens is thereby easy to remove. At the end of this procedure the surgeon got a "perfect" capsule bag with a "perfect" centered round capsulorhexis. A optimal basis for the innovative FEMTIS IOL which now can be precisely "hooked".
