The German composer Carl Gänschals (1847-1906) specialized in composing melodic but technically undemanding salon pieces, which were very popular in his lifetime. Indeed, he is still remembered in his home town of Stolberg (in North Rhine-Westphalia), as you can see here: http://bit.ly/1QBkPsO . The house where he was born is now a hotel, and serves (what look like) white chocolate cookies with his name and picture on them! Gänschals used several pseudonyms, which seem to be publisher-related, and ran sets of opus numbers for each. One of them, 'Theodor Espen' was exclusively published by Ernst Eulenberg, and ran to 65 opus numbers - however, Gänschals published well over 400 works under his own name with a different publisher!
