​​The Council on Linkages Between Academia and Public Health Practice (Council on Linkages) is a collaborative of national organizations focused on improving public health education and training, practice, and research. The Council on Linkages convened for a virtual meeting on Monday, June 24, 2024 from 2:00-4:00pm ET. This meeting provided updates about initiatives of the Council on Linkages, including the new Retention and Recruitment Learning Community, the Academic Health Department Learning Community, and the Core Competencies for Public Health Professionals. Guest speakers from the Public Health Advocacy Consensus Task Force (PH-ACT) shared about their efforts to identify the essential advocacy skills needed to strengthen the public health workforce and speakers from the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists (CSTE) shared a new toolkit and trainings to support the implementation of the 2023 Applied Epidemiology Competencies in state, tribal, local, and territorial jurisdictions.
